NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday visited Adampur Air Base, where he was briefed by the Air Force personnel.
In the photos, PM Modi could be seen interacting with the Army at the air base.
PM Modi called the meeting with jawans "special experience" and said that India is eternally grateful to the armed forces for everything they do for the nation.
"Earlier this morning, I went to AFS Adampur and met our brave air warriors and soldiers. It was a very special experience to be with those who epitomise courage, determination and fearlessness. India is eternally grateful to our armed forces for everything they do for our nation," PM Modi said in a tweet.
Notably, Adampur air base, which was one of the Air Bases active during Operation Sindoor , was one of the key military locations which Pakistani military attempted to attack last week on Wednesday after the India launched Operation Sindoor, according to the defence ministry, reported PTI.
According to the officials, the Pakistani military attempted to strike key military locations, including Adampur, Bhatinda, and Chandigarh, among others. “Every attempt was foiled by our integrated air defence systems,” one official said.
India initiated Operation Sindoor on May 7, striking nine terrorist installations across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir after 26 people, including 25 tourists and a Nepali, were killed when terrorists opened fire in the Baisaran meadow, which is around six kilometres from Pahalgam town.
The horrific incident is the deadliest attack in the Kashmir Valley since the Pulwama carnage in 2019.
Following several days of confrontation along the Line of Control (LoC), both nations agreed to a ceasefire on May 10. India clarified its position, stating that whilst military operations would cease, there would be no diplomatic discussions with Islamabad.
After the ceasefire, the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMO) of India and Pakistan held talks on Monday where they decided to continue the ceasefire and avoid initiating any "aggressive and inimical action against each other".
"Talks between DGMOs (of India and Pakistan) were held at 5pm, May 12, 2025.
