"Taking shorter showers, averaging around five minutes, can result in substantial savings, cutting gas and electricity costs by approximately £130 per year."
The experts also pinpointed other areas of the house where Brits can save money by using the energy efficiently.
They added: "With heavy use kitchen appliances like ovens and kettles leading the charge in driving up electricity bills, making simple swaps, such as using an air fryer for daily cooking, households can slash annual costs by half.
"Efficient laundry habits can make a big dent in energy bills. Waiting for a full washing machine load before hitting start potentially halves yearly expenses from £120 to £60. Similarly, taking a mindful approach to boiling the kettle, utilising only the necessary amount of water, can shave off £30 from an annual bill of £60.
"Taking measures in the bedroom can also lead to reductions in energy consumption without sacrificing comfort. Simple swaps, such as opting for LED lighting and investing in electric blankets, offer opportunities to save upwards of £5 per light bulb and curtail heating expenses."
