New Delhi: The obsession to post sensational and unique content on social media is becoming ever so dangerous.
A recent report found India to be the most deadly country for selfies. And not just selfies, people go the extra mile to pull off stunts, which are recorded and posted online.
One such shocking video surfaced on social media recently – that of a man doing a dangerous and life-threatening stunt on a railway track.
The clip, posted on X, shows the man lying flat on the track as a train passes over him at full speed.
The man in a white T-shirt and jeans, seen kneeling on the track, pays no heed to the loud honking of the approaching train. An associate, who probably recorded the footage, sounds terrified as he screams and pleads with the man to lie down.
The train crosses the man without even a scratch on his body. He then jumps in joy, celebrating ‘victory’, as his associate expresses relief.
Since X user Nidhi Ambedkar posted the video, it has gone viral and amassed nearly 5 lakh views.
“People are risking their lives in the pursuit of making reels..! The government should take strict action against those making such videos,” the caption said.

The time and location of the incident have not been confirmed.
Western Railway reacted to the post, showing concern and seeking details of the incident for ‘better assistance.’
The spine-chilling stunt triggered outrage online.
Many users criticised the man for risking his life for momentary internet fame.
“These days, all this has become normal, wherever you look, people are doing such foolish antics; to gain a little fame, they are risking their lives,” wrote one user.
“They should be punished,” commented one netizen.
Several users blamed ‘reel culture’ for such dangerous behaviour.
“This reel culture is destroying the nation’s wellbeing. Cringe content is taking over genuine valuable content,” remarked one person.
