Dramatic footage has caught the moment a was shockingly battered and damaged following an unexpected burst water main. Thousands of litres of water shot up into the air, on Wednesday morning in the Matson area of .
The terrifying fountain of gushing water could be seen from miles away but the closest to the burst main saw extensive caused to the property. A shocked local resident, Katie Moore, who recorded the jaw-dropping video said she had "never seen anything like it" and added that the home closest to the main was "severely damaged" from the terrifying impact.
Katie said: "We live on Upton Hill and have woodland where we were able to see this. We have friends who live opposite where it happened. They messaged all to say they were ok but next door was severely damaged.

"The water was restored quite quickly to the local area. The explosion must have been so loud for that amount of water.
"Such a shame as we are being told to save as much water as we can." A dramatic photo even showed how a rainbow formed as the water rushed out from the ground.
A spokesperson said: "We’re sorry to anyone who’s been affected by one of our larger pipes bursting in Matson this morning. Our teams were on site quickly and moved water around our network and used tankers to get supplies for a small number of homes affected back to normal quickly.
"While everyone now has their water back on, due to the size of the pipe, the pressure may be slightly lower than usual as we work on the repairs today, but please be assured we’re absolutely committed to getting this fixed quickly.

"We'd like to thank the local community for their understanding and we’ll be keeping everyone updated."
This has not been the first time homes and people were left struggling after a huge water pipe burst. and some even had to collect bottled water in Plymouth when a main burst, on April 21, 2025.
Water collection zones were set up and locals reported huge queues of people were waiting for water while the issues was ongoing. had said: "Due to a burst main on our network, some customers in PL6, PL19 and PL20 may be experiencing lower water pressure than usual or a loss of supply.
"Our team have been working through the night to repair the burst and remain on site working to restore supply as quickly as possible. We are very sorry for the disruption caused and would like to thank you for your patience."
At the time, one resident in line waiting for bottled water said: "It's a bit chaotic up here. They're finding it difficult to control and there are not many staff here from South West Water."
