Mumbai: A 17-year-old girl tragically lost her life on Tuesday after falling from the 45th floor of a residential tower in Goregaon East. The Aarey Police have registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) in the matter, as no foul play is suspected and the family has raised no concerns.
The deceased was a Class 11 student enrolled in an international school. During their investigation, police recovered a handwritten note from her bag, in which she expressed her intent to take her own life. “This is my decision. No one should be blamed,” the note reportedly stated.
Sources within the police department revealed that the girl had been battling depression for the past six years and was undergoing psychiatric treatment. Her father, in his statement, confirmed that she had previously attempted suicide and had been under professional care. According to police, she had once confided in her therapist, saying, “Everyone has to die one day, then why are we even living?”
Given the family’s statement and the recovery of the note, authorities believe the incident to be a case of suicide. However, as per procedure, the Aarey Police have registered it as an accidental death and are completing the necessary formalities.
The incident has once again highlighted the urgent need for mental health awareness and timely intervention for young individuals struggling with emotional distress.
