A woman walking with her child was seriously injured after being struck by a car in Kottakkal, Malappuram district. The incident reportedly occurred around 10 AM on Saturday, with shocking footage of the accident now circulating widely.
The accident took place at Swagatamaad area in Kottakkal. Badariya (32), a Swagatamaad resident, was taking her son Emir Muhammad to an Anganwadi in Palathara when a speeding car hit them from behind. The child miraculously escaped injury in the incident.

Footage of the accident shows the distraught child running to his mother immediately after the collision and attempting to help her get up.
Badariya suffered injuries to her face and bones. She was admitted to Kottakkal MIMS Hospital in critical condition but is now reported to be stable. According to reports, she has been moved from the ICU to a regular room.
The car involved in the accident belongs to residents of Kallayi. Initial investigation suggests the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel, causing the accident.
