Ajay Devgn, the Bollywood superstar, has been actively promoting his new movie Raid 2, which released on May 1. In a recent interview with BookMyShow Unscripted, the actor shared his thoughts on the issue of corruption in India and the pressure faced by public officers. His views shed light on the broader societal context that contributes to the prevalence of corruption within government institutions.

Ajay's Reflection of Society

Ajay Devgn discussed the complex issue of corruption and its link to society. According to him, it’s easy for people to blame officers and government representatives for corruption, but the reality is more complicated. “I feel we blame the officers but these officers come from the same place as us. From the same society. It’s not about who is corrupt and who is not, the point is they are one of us. So we are corrupt,” said Devgn. He highlighted that these officers are products of the same social system, and their actions are influenced by the environment they come from.

Devgn further elaborated on how corruption infiltrates different sectors of society, with varying degrees of impact. He explained that corruption often emerges in some areas more than others, depending on the nature of the institution and its officials. “When corruption creeps into a society, there are different places where it thrives, and in others, it may not. Some people are good, while others are bad. Just like society, these departments reflect the same dynamics, because they are one of us and we are one of them,” Devgn stated. His words suggest that a collective understanding of corruption is crucial in addressing the root causes of this issue.

Raid 2 – A Story of Corruption and Justice

In Raid 2, Ajay Devgn reprises his role as Amey Patnaik, an honest IRS officer. His character faces off against a corrupt politician, Dada Manohar Bhai, played by Riteish Deshmukh. The film, directed by Rajkumar Gupta, focuses on the battle between good and evil within the corrupt world of politics and business. This sequel builds upon the themes explored in the first Raid movie (2018), which was both a commercial and critical success.

The film's storyline delves into the intricacies of corruption and the determination of the Income Tax Department to bring justice. The cast includes notable actors such as Vaani Kapoor, Saurabh Shukla, and Rajat Kapoor, with Shukla reprising his role from the previous installment. Given the anticipation surrounding the movie and its strong advance bookings, Raid 2 is expected to perform well at the box office.

Digital Release and Theatrical Success

Following its theatrical release, Raid 2 is expected to stream on an online platform after completing its cinema run. According to OTTPlay.com, the film’s digital rights have been acquired by a streaming giant, with a premiere scheduled for late June or early July 2025. This follows the industry standard of a 60-day theatrical release before moving to streaming platforms.

The timing of the film’s release on May 1, which coincides with International Labour Day and Maharashtra Day, allows Raid 2 to capitalize on a long weekend at the box office, giving it a boost in terms of audience turnout.
