Shahid Afridi, former captain of Pakistan's cricket team, has made a controversial remark on the Indian government and the Indian army for the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam. At least 26 persons -- mostly tourists -- were killed by terrorists last week at the Baisaran meadows in the popular destination in the Kashmir valley.
"India carries out terrorism itself, is responsible for killing its own people, and then puts the blame on Pakistan," alleged Afridi while talking to local media reporters in Pakistan.
"The terrorists continued to kill people in Pahalgam for an hour, and not a single Indian soldier out of 8 lakhs showed up. But when they did, they blamed Pakistan," Afridi claimed.
"We have always tried to improve our relations with India."
Netizens school Afridi
Soon after the video went viral on social media, netizens commented on Afridi's reaction. Calling his comments "awful", one user wrote that he should stick to cricket, "even there, though he was pretty average."
Another user trolling Afridi asked him if he bought a new TV or not.
"Afridi couldn’t even read a cricket pitch correctly, now he wants to read military operations? Stick to losing World Cups, champ," wrote another.
NIA takes over Pahalgam terror attack probe
Meanwhile, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the probe into the brutal Pahalgam terror attack. The teams, overseen by an Inspector General of Police, a Deputy Inspector General of Police and a Superintendent of Police from the anti-terror agency, are examining the eyewitnesses to the attack that took place on Tuesday at Baisaran valley in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, they said.
The eyewitnesses are being questioned in minute detail to piece together the sequence of events that led to one of the worst terror attacks in Kashmir, they said.
The entry and exit points are being closely scrutinised by the investigating NIA teams for clues to the modus operandi of the terrorists, the officials said.
The teams, aided by forensic and other experts, are checking the entire area thoroughly for evidence to expose the terror conspiracy that led to the horrendous attack that has shocked the nation, they said.
NIA teams, which have been camping at the terror attack site since Wednesday, have intensified the search for evidence, they said.
The anti-terror agency has taken over the Pahalgam terror attack case following orders from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
Terrorists on Tuesday opened fire in Baisaran, a popular tourist spot in the upper reaches of Pahalgam in Anantnag district, killing 26 people, mostly holidayers from other states.

"No country or religion supports terrorism. We always support peace. Islam teaches us peace only, and Pakistan never supports such kinds of acts," the former cricketer allged.Shahid Afridi said “India made blunders in #Pahalgam and then swiftly blamed Pakistan for it. Islam teaches us peace only and Pakistan never supports such kinds of acts. Indians should blame themselves for this” 🇵🇰🇮🇳🤯
