Pro is our next big leap - for those who need a little extra protein. Built with a new technology known as biofermentation, yeast protein is vegan, extremely light and highly efficacious,” said Nikunj Biyani, co-founder of SuperYou.
What exactly is fermented yeast protein?
According to Anshul Singh Clinical Nutritionist, Artemis Hospitals, to make fermented yeast protein, yeast is grown in a controlled setting and then fermented to make it easier to digest and add more protein. The yeast is ground into a fine powder that is rich in amino acids, vitamins, and minerals. People often use it instead of animal or dairy proteins because it comes from plants. Fermentation makes it easier on the stomach and gives it more nutrients than regular yeast products.
Is it better from other protein powders like whey protein?
He also said that fermented yeast protein is vegan, lactose-free, and hypoallergenic, so it can be used by more people with different dietary needs. It's easier to digest and less likely to make your stomach feel bad or make you feel bloated. Fermentation makes nutrients more available to the body, so you get more from each serving. It also lasts longer because it takes less to make. Whey comes from animals, but yeast protein is a cruelty-free alternative that has the same quality of amino acids.
He said, fermented yeast protein has all the amino acids your body needs, so it is a complete protein. It helps muscles grow, heal, and stay healthy overall. Fermentation also helps the body absorb more nutrients and adds beta-glucans, which are good for the immune system. People with soy or dairy allergies can use it because it doesn't cause allergies. It is also good for the environment and lasts a long time, and it doesn't have as much of a carbon footprint as animal-based protein sources like meat or whey.
Any side effects of it?
Anshul Singh says most people can safely eat fermented yeast protein, but some people may feel a little bloated or have stomach problems if they eat too much of it because it is high in fiber. People who are allergic to yeast should not eat it. It might interact with some medications, but this is very rare. People with medical conditions should talk to their doctor first. As with any supplement, moderation is important to avoid nutrient imbalances or putting too much stress on the digestive system.
