Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said the the GST cuts had given way to higher demand, which in turn boosted employment opportunities in MSME and retail trade sectors, adding that 'GST bachat utsav' has turned into 'rozgaar utsav'.
Addressing the Rozgar Mela, Modi said, "We recently saw record sales on Dhanteras and Diwali, setting new records and shattering old ones. This demonstrates how the GST reforms have given the country's economy a new impetus. We are also seeing the positive impact of this reform in the MSME sector and retail trade. This is creating numerous new employment opportunities in sectors like manufacturing, logistics, packaging, and distribution."
Modi congratulated about 51,000 youth who were provided with offer letters during the Rozgar Mela, adding that more than 11 lakh recruitment letters have been issued so far through the Rozgar Melas across the country.
"Your joy, ability to work hard and the confidence of achieving dreams will not remain mere personal success if we also add the passion to do something for the country. Today, all of you have not only been offered government appointments, but it is also a chance for all of you to serve the country and contribute for the development of the country. I am sure that all of you will work with this sentiment," Modi added.
Further, the prime minister said that potential of the country's youth is a major strength and that foreign polices are made considering the youth's interest, adding that diplomatic talks and global deals are being done with the younger population in focus.
"Today India is the youngest country in the world. We consider India's youth potential a major strength. We are moving forward with this vision and confidence in every field. Even our foreign policy is focused on the interests of India's youth. Our diplomatic talks and global MoUs are incorporating youth training, upskilling, and employment generation. Recently, the British Prime Minister visited India. During his visit, India and the UK agreed to increase investment in sectors like AI, fintech, and clean energy. The free trade agreement signed between India and the UK a few months ago will also create new opportunities."
Modi added that such opportunities will come from several other European countries, which could generate many jobs and attract global opportunities.
"Similarly, investment partnerships have been established with several European countries. These are expected to create thousands of new jobs. Agreements have been signed with many countries, including Brazil, Singapore, Korea, and Canada. These will increase investment. Startups and MSMEs will receive support. Exports will increase, and young people will have new opportunities to work on global projects. Many opportunities will arise," Modi said.
